The State’s Attorney Office is responsible for prosecuting criminal cases in Macoupin County and for representing the county in civil cases.

The State’s Attorney office is located in the basement of the Macoupin County Courthouse in Carlinville. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday by appointment.

Traffic cases will not be discussed over the phone, and the State’s Attorney office has nothing to do with small claims, evictions or civil cases.

-Cottrell is the crime victim coordinator. Victims whose cases have been filed should direct their inquires to Cottrell.
